The Journey Continues

Earlier last month, I shared with everyone how the Holiday Inn Southend is rising from the ashes !  Things are starting to take shape and over the next few weeks the building will be water-tight :)

Its all a very exciting time - not only in the project status however the general manager and I have been joined by an operations manager - Mehment Dogan and human resources manager Vicky Graves. Next week our team grows that little bit more as our revenue manager Beth Bruce starts.

For those whom have not spoken to the me the sales manager - Emma Dean  (salesmgr@hisouthend.com) or our general manager - Steve Brazil (gm@hisouthend.com) the hotel will open early August 2012 and will be a modern and yet slightly retro 4 star hotel that is only 300 meters from London Southend Airport.

Be greeted by our friendly concierge team on the ground floor and you will be guided towards the reception desk if you are checking into the hotel

Our hotel is open to everyone - not just people whom are staying with us (although we hope that many of you will choose to do so).  As part of our ground floor level we have 3 meetings rooms that can be opened out to make one large room called the Laker Suite.  The Laker Suite will comfortably accommodate a dinner dance for 120 people, or a buffet reception for 175 people - if you are thinking about having a party, wedding or conference then please speak with me (Emma) and I would be delighted to help you.  It may seem like months away, however Christmas is only 256 days away and we have a fantastic "Winter Wonderland" theme for the hotel - details of this to follow in the next few months!!

Perhaps you are a local resident of Southend, or a traveller about to be jet off on your holidays/business.  Before you take the flight come into out hotel and have a light refreshment in the ground floor lounge area - just looking at the setting

Within the hotel we will have a total of 129 bedrooms - these include standard bedrooms, executive bedrooms and our King Superior Bedrooms.  Take a look at our standard and King Superior rooms and let us know your thoughts

Our standard rooms - the sample room was finished a few weeks ago and looks great !

and our King Superior rooms (still waiting to see pictures/artist impression of the Executive Room)

You will have already seen from the images that the hotel is going to look amazing, however there are still come iconic elements to share including the glass staircase and details of the 5th floor restaurant and bar.  For pictures of these and more information you will just have to wait another week....

Risen from the ground upwards

The fantastic new Holiday Inn Southend, is due open in Summer 2012.

I am the new sales manager and together with the general manager, the new staff currently being recruited and wonderful support from IHG and Chardon Managment this will be an iconic hotel in the area.  My aim will be to make this a succesful and will be a Southend flagship hotel and change the way that hotels in this area operate.

Here are some images of the site next to Harp House roundabout - as the title of this blog suggests, it risen from the ground upwards
